Woods Cross at a glance
Living in Woods Cross
Woods Cross is a city in southern Davis County, Utah, just west of Bountiful. West Bountiful borders it on the north and North Salt Lake on the south. The 2020 Census counted 11,410 people.
Morning
Woods Cross has its own FrontRunner station, at 750 South 800 West, 0.6 road miles from City Hall. The next stop north is Farmington, and the next stop south is North Temple. Fittingly, the name goes back to a railroad crossing. In 1869 Daniel Wood gave part of his farm for a depot and crossing, called Woods Crossing and later shortened. Closer to City Hall, V & R Baking Company is a wholesale bakery on 800 West that says it has a retail shop. It says everything it bakes is made from scratch.
Afternoon
Woods Cross keeps 17 parks, its 2024 parks plan says, with 55.9 acres of parks and open space and 5.21 miles of trails. Mills Park, at 1850 South 1200 West, has its own trail system and a football field. The county lists a 12-hole disc golf course there too. Hogan Park sits beside City Hall. Plated Dreams, on Highway 89, calls itself a European-style cafe. It says its owners opened it in 2022 after years of falling for the cafes of Europe.
Evening
Woods Cross ends in wetlands, out west. The parks plan places the Legacy Nature Preserve, a large area of preserved wetlands and wildlife habitat, at the city's western edge. The Legacy Parkway Trail follows the parkway, and its 2425 South trailhead has an off-leash dog area. That trailhead is 2.9 road miles from City Hall. The county's trail list adds a Legacy Wetland Trail and a Legacy Equestrian Trail. The Utah State Capitol is 7.5 road miles south of City Hall.
Seasons
Woods Cross celebrates Memorial Day at Hogan Park. In 2026 the city's schedule opened with a 7 a.m. 5K fun run, then a flag ceremony, pancakes and a car show. The city's parks plan counts eight annual community events. They include Pumpkins in the Park at Mills Park in October and a tree lighting at City Hall in December. Veterans Day brings a dinner at the Public Works Building. And each summer, the city runs more than 30 recreation programs, from archery to music.
