Living in Bountiful
Bountiful is a city in Davis County, Utah, between North Salt Lake and Centerville, with West Bountiful and Woods Cross to the west. It was named in 1855 and chartered in 1892. The 2020 Census counted 45,762 people.
Morning
Bountiful's historic Main Street hides a treasure hunt. Six bronze bees are tucked between 100 North and 200 South, and the city's website gives the clues in a rhyme. Find all six, and the Bountiful Davis Art Center at 90 North Main has a free bee sticker for you. Bronze sculptures line the same blocks, which helps when the bees are winning. Refuel at Sweet Cake Bake Shop, a from-scratch gluten-free bakery at 96 South Main. Or roll south to Sips Drive-Thru, a coffee and drink drive-thru at 2223 South Main.
Afternoon
The Mueller Park Trail starts at a Forest Service picnic area east of Bountiful, 3.3 road miles from City Hall. It's open to hiking, mountain biking, dirt biking and horseback riding, and leashed pets can come along. Closer in, Creekside Park on Mill Street has a creek, a footbridge, and paved and natural walking trails. North Canyon Park, on Bountiful Boulevard, has tennis, pickleball and sand volleyball courts. Leashed dogs are welcome in city parks, except Bountiful Town Square, which has a water feature and a no-dogs rule.
Evening
Bountiful City Park, at 400 North and 200 West, hosts Music in the Park. The free summer concerts have run for more than 17 years, typically on Friday nights, and the city suggests a blanket or a lawn chair. Cutler's Cookies & Sandwiches, at 120 West 500 South, says Sandra Cutler started the business in 1980. From City Hall, the Utah State Capitol is 8.7 road miles away. The Woods Cross FrontRunner station is 1.7 road miles west.
Seasons
Bountiful's story starts on September 27, 1847, when Perrigrine Sessions camped here. He spent that first winter in a dugout roofed with skins, which makes any modern furnace feel like a luxury. The place was called Sessions' Settlement before it became Bountiful. Summer belongs to City Park. Music in the Park is typically held on Friday nights, and the art center brings Summerfest, its annual cultural arts festival, to the same park. In 2026 it ran August 7 and 8.
