North Salt Lake at a glance
Living in North Salt Lake
North Salt Lake is its own city at the south end of Davis County, Utah. Salt Lake City borders it on the south, Woods Cross on the north, and Bountiful on the north and east. The 2020 Census counted 21,907 people.
Morning
A North Salt Lake morning can start with a trail list. The city names nine trails, including the Tunnel Springs Loop Trail and the Springhill Geologic Trail. Two more go by Tunnel Springs to BST and Bonneville Shoreline to SLC, which is trail shorthand for big plans. The city's trails page lists no lengths, so you decide what counts as a long walk. The city listed a Purge the Spurge clean-up at Springhill Geologic Park on April 11, 2026. It calls spurge an invasive troublemaker. On Redwood Road, Big Bite Breads is a bakery that says it moved into its own space in 2024.
Afternoon
Legacy Park, at 1140 West 1100 North, is where North Salt Lake keeps its splash pad. It runs from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. Dogs aren't allowed in Legacy Park, so they'll have to hear about it later. Hatch Park, just northwest of City Hall, was the original heart of the city, the city says. It's being rebuilt, and the city expects it to reopen around late fall 2027, weather permitting. The city also lists a Veterans Memorial Amphitheater at City Hall, 10 East Center Street. The Orchard Community Garden, on East Center Street, has 26 plots, and the city says all were reserved for the 2026 season.
Evening
North Salt Lake's first official mural is on the historic Bamberger railroad building at 10 South Main Street. The town took its name from a small post office at the railroad tracks. An old Utah Highway Patrol weigh station became the first town hall, which is about as practical as a town hall gets. FrontRunner doesn't stop in the city. The Woods Cross station is 3.7 road miles from City Hall. The city says its residents have access to the South Davis Recreation Center in Bountiful, with an Olympic-sized pool and ice skating.
Seasons
North Salt Lake's calendar comes with a kite string attached. The 14th annual Kite Festival was set for Tunnel Springs Park on May 16, 2026, with a limited number of free kites to decorate. Liberty Fest was scheduled to start June 27 at Legacy Park, with fireworks at Eaglewood Golf Course on July 3. Each September, the city hosts a 3-mile canoe and kayak paddle on the Jordan River. Boats and life vests are free on a limited basis, and registration is required.
