Living in South Weber

South Weber is a Davis County city at the mouth of Weber Canyon. Despite the name, it is not in Weber County, which starts across the Weber River. The 2020 Census counted 7,867 people.

Morning

A South Weber morning can begin at the edge of Weber Canyon. The city sums up its setting this way. The canyon mouth lies east, the Weber River north, a bluff south, and a narrow passage into Riverdale west. For fishing, the city points to a fisherman's access on the east side near Highway 89. On the Weber from the Great Salt Lake to Echo Reservoir dam, the state's 2026 fishing guidebook says cutthroat trout must be released immediately. A section of the city's history page is titled "The Windy City," and it says the trees here lean west.

Afternoon

South Weber keeps about 50 acres of parks, the city says. Canyon Meadows Park, on the west end, has pickleball and basketball courts, a bike track, a baseball diamond and a playground. Central Park adds a stage and a bowery, and the city lets you reserve the park. Cherry Farms Park has a playground and a ball field of its own. Burly Burger, at 2572 South Weber Drive, says it makes its burgers fresh.

Evening

South Weber's Posse Grounds, on Old Fort Road, have a paddock, a fire pit and picnic benches, with the city's dog park next door. Close by, the city lists a memorial at 475 East and Old Fort Road, tied to an 1862 battle it places near the river. The Historic Pioneer Cemetery, on 475 East, began on the Firth property, the city says. Interstate 84 runs along the south side of the Weber River through most of town. FrontRunner has no stop here. Roy's station is 8.8 road miles from City Hall. Ogden's Union Station is 9.5.

Seasons

Country Fair Days is South Weber's yearly celebration. It began in 1976, and the city says it takes place the first week of August every year. Its 2026 dates were July 31 to August 8. The schedule listed a parade, a car show, golf, pickleball, chalk art and a movie in the park. The town is older than the fair. Settlers arrived in 1851, and in 1855 a territorial act set the county line down the Weber River's main channel. The south bank went to Davis County. South Weber became a town in 1938 and a city in 1971.
