Living in Plain City

Plain City lies in the northwest corner of Weber County, Utah, west of Farr West and north of Marriott-Slaterville. For about a third of a mile, its north edge meets Box Elder County. The 2020 Census counted 7,833 people.

Morning

Plain City mornings can start at Warrens, on 2600 North, part of an Ogden-area group whose website says "Since 1955". Its story says it was founded in the 1950s, and that "fresh things first" is its trademark phrase. Then head to Lee Olsen Park, at 4100 West 2200 North, just east of City Hall. The 2018 General Plan puts the city offices, the fire station and sports fields on about 20 acres there. The city's reservations page lists a splash pad there. It also lists a rodeo arena to reserve.

Afternoon

Plain City's Town Square covers about 4.17 acres with a playground, a pavilion and pickleball courts, per the 2018 General Plan. Lions Club Park sits at 4350 West 2575 North. Pioneer Park, at 4150 West Pioneer Road, is on the city's park list. The Plain City Pops Orchestra set its 2026 summer concert at Lions Club Park. For museums and galleries, the city points to nearby Ogden. Plain City's historic photo gallery remembers William Dolby Skeen, who built the first rock house from rocks hauled from the Hot Springs Mountain area.

Evening

Plain City's October 2026 calendar listed the Pumpkin Walk at Lee Olsen Park, with two evenings of carved pumpkins, free to attend. The same gallery says Skeen owned a race track called Four Mile at the south end of town. Today's route to speed is I-15, which 2700 North and Pioneer Road both reach directly, the 2018 General Plan says. Roy's FrontRunner station is 10.7 road miles from City Hall, just closer than Ogden's at 11.1.

Seasons

Plain City's Fourth of July centers on Town Square, the city says, drawing businesses, community groups and visitors. The city's 2025 and 2026 July 4 schedules list a 6 a.m. wake-up call and a 6:30 Milk Run 5K. The schedules list an 8:30 parade, which the city calls a long-standing tradition, through the Town Center and around The Square. They list a fish scramble at 10 a.m. and fireworks at Lee Olsen Park around 10 p.m. Settlers came to homestead in 1858 and chose the name Plain City in 1859.
