Harrisville at a glance
Living in Harrisville
Harrisville fills the ground between Ogden and Pleasant View in Weber County, Utah, with North Ogden to the east and Farr West to the west. The 2020 Census counted 7,036 people.
Morning
Harrisville mornings can start at the pond in Harrisville Main Park, at 1350 North Highway 89, just north of City Hall. Rainbow trout are stocked there about four times a year, the city says, with a limit of four fish. Anglers 12 and up need a license, except on free fishing day. The city says one lap of the circle portion of the park's walking track measures 0.53 mile. The park also has nine holes of disc golf, tennis courts and a bowery. UTA buses serve U.S. 89 beside the park.
Afternoon
Harrisville Main Park's splash pad is on the city's 2026 hours list as open from Memorial Day to Labor Day. The city's Martin Henderson Harris Bicentennial Cabin, at 725 West Harrisville Road, can be reserved by residents all year. In 1976, the nation's bicentennial year, the city bought Harris's land for a memorial park. Harris built a log home west of Four Mile Creek in 1851, and the town is named for him.
Evening
Harrisville Main Park stays open until 10 p.m., the city says, so an evening cast is fair game. In 1909 a local company laid tracks through Harrisville toward Plain City. Its little steam engine was called the "Dummy," and it ran here until June 4, 1916. The city's history says freight trains and FrontRunner still use some of the old local tracks, but Harrisville has no station. Ogden's FrontRunner station on Wall Avenue is 4.2 road miles from City Hall.
Seasons
Harrisville's calendar lists a Movie in the Park on July 31 and AMERICA250 on August 1, 2026, both at the main park. The park's tennis nets go up April 1 and come down September 30. Urban Stewart built the first house here in 1850, three years after pioneers entered the Salt Lake Valley. Brick making became a major local business, and a brickyard ran until 2012. Harrisville became an incorporated township at 3:27 p.m. on April 9, 1962, the city's history notes.
