Living in Ogden

Ogden is the largest city in Weber County, Utah, with 87,321 people at the 2020 Census. The city sits between 4,300 and 5,200 feet, and its local mountains rise to 9,500 feet.

Morning

Ogden mornings can start at Daily Rise Coffee on Washington Boulevard. The company calls this drive-thru the place where it all started, back in 2004. Or try Wild Shaped Bakery, on the same stretch of Washington Boulevard. It says its mill grinds flour every morning for that day's bread, from Utah wheat. Then walk it off on the Ogden River Parkway Trail, which the city lists at Lorin Farr Park. The city says a restoration project pulled 13,000 tons of concrete, glass, shopping carts and cars out of that river.

Afternoon

Union Station, at 2501 Wall Avenue, opened on November 22, 1924. It holds the Utah State Railroad Museum, the Browning Firearms Museum, the Browning-Kimball Car Museum and two art galleries. The city says Ogden was known as "Junction City" for all its train junctions and traffic. For a scoop, Farr Better Ice Cream has a shop at 274 21st Street. Its company, Asael Farr & Sons, says it incorporated in 1920. MTC Park, at 1750 Monroe Boulevard, adds a botanical garden and a gazebo with stadium seating.

Evening

Ogden's First Friday Art Stroll comes around on the first Friday of every month. The city says it runs year-round, with exhibit openings, artist receptions and live music, and it's free to attend. The city's annual events list also names the Twilight Concert Series. 24th St. Kayak Park, at 473 Exchange Road, has an observation deck on the Parkway Trail. FrontRunner trains leave from Wall Avenue, at the north end of the line, 1.0 road mile from City Hall.

Seasons

Ogden enjoys four distinct seasons, the city says, and its Annual Events page lists several festivals. The Ogden Arts Festival comes to Union Station the second weekend of June each year. The city's events page calls the Harvest Moon Celebration an annual farewell to summer on Historic 25th Street. Farmers Market Ogden's 2026 summer schedule listed Saturdays from May 23 to September 12 on Historic 25th Street, with 300+ vendors. Daily Rise says it has made every Saturday of the summer market since 2005. The city has been incorporated since 1851.
