Texas Instruments Breaks Ground on Utah's New 300-mm Wafer Fab—Paving the Way for U.S. Semiconductor Manufacturing Growth
Expanding Semiconductor Manufacturing in Utah
The facility, known as LFAB2, is slated to begin production as early as 2026 on its 300-mm semiconductor wafer fab in Lehi, Utah. The move marks a significant step in TI’s long-term strategy to expand U.S. manufacturing and strengthen its production capacity for analog and embedded processing chips, which power everything from personal electronics to industrial systems. When completed, the new facility will work alongside TI's existing Lehi fab, ultimately ramping up daily output to tens of millions of chips.

Historic Investment and Job Creation in Utah
This expansion builds on TI’s $11 billion investment. The largest single economic commitment in Utah's history. LFAB2 alone will bring around 800 new TI jobs and thousands of additional indirect roles, injecting vitality into the Utah economy. As Utah Governor Spencer Cox noted, this project will not only create high-quality jobs but also position Utah as a pivotal player in domestic semiconductor manufacturing, helping meet national security and technological demands.

Elevating STEM Education with a $9 Million Community Investment
TI isn’t just growing its manufacturing footprint; it’s also deepening its roots in the community. The company has committed $9 million to the Alpine School District to establish Utah’s first district-wide K-12 STEM learning initiative. This program will reach 85,000 students, embedding core STEM concepts across all grade levels and offering professional development for teachers and administrators. Dr. Shane Farnsworth, Alpine School District’s Superintendent, highlighted how this partnership will prepare students for technology-focused careers while fostering vital skills like collaboration, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
Driving Sustainable Manufacturing with LEED Gold Goals
Environmental sustainability is front and center in LFAB2’s design. The fab aims to achieve LEED Gold certification, one of the highest standards for energy efficiency, and will operate on 100% renewable electricity. TI plans to incorporate advanced waste, water, and energy management systems that can recycle water at nearly twice the rate of its current Lehi fab, reinforcing TI’s commitment to responsible manufacturing practices.
Setting a New Standard in U.S. Semiconductor Manufacturing
LFAB2 is part of TI’s broader manufacturing expansion, joining existing facilities in Utah and Texas and anticipating support from the CHIPS and Science Act. These expansions underscore TI’s dedication to a stable, U.S.-based supply of analog and embedded processing products, addressing a growing demand for semiconductors critical to innovation across industries.
